World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Upgrades to items can be used to improve the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade it could boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity and boost additional stats.
Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests, and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.
Item Level
The value of an item's base stats increases as it is upgraded. The value is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). item upgrader can be expensive, depending on who you hire and what you do. This is due to the sheer number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.
Item level is a widely used measurement of power and can be found on all item tooltips. It also serves to limit the amount of PvP gear players can wear, since PvP is limited at lower levels. The average level of an item can be found on the character sheet.
Using the item level can help players compare the potency of gear when choosing to buy or sell. It's an excellent indicator of the quality of an item and the amount of damage it will be able to deal. Comparing items from the inventory of a vendor can be done using the item's level.
The level of the item can be viewed by pressing the ALT key on a PC or using the left stick (L3) on XB1 and PS4. This will show the full description of the item, including its ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are many theories about how the level of an item is determined. One theory is that the level is a numerical value derived from a formula that calculates the value of an item's stats are worth. It takes into consideration that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets boost the value of the item. This process can result in a calculated amount for the item's ilvl which is usually quite close to Blizzard's real item level.
It's not the only thing that affects the value of an item. The level of the area where the item dropped can also change its stats. For instance it can increase the item's haste or crit score. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more ilvl than those from lower-level instances.
Item Stats
The item's stats can be the difference between a good or bad item for players. The game makes use of a lot of them in different ways to encourage players to play with a variety of weapons, and also to stop one weapon from being "the best." The stats of a base weapon are boosted by the weapon's stat mods, which are themselves enhanced by the player's level.
Upgrades to the item add by increasing certain stats on the item. The cost of upgrades is determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a gray or white item will only be upgraded once, whereas items with rare tiers will be upgraded several times with higher prices.
Another method to alter the stats on an item is by affixing it. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and they come in all shapes and sizes. The affixes could do things like give the item extra damage, or add a unique capability to the item (such as reviving the dead or decreasing cooldowns) or make the item unique by putting an additional name to the item.
All affixes can be re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade menu and pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount of gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges as with other methods of rerolling.
In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can also choose which stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The range of stats is determined by the item's level. However each item will have at least one stat in that range unless they are a unique item or the item is a God Roll from a boss in a raid.
Another thing that could be changed is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to roll the affixes, or choose which stats to increase. However, as with the base equipment, this would need to be performed on a per-item basis and the interface for comparing items wouldn't show all possible stats that were gained or lost at the same time.
Item Luck
A player's Luck stat stacks up to increase the chances of item discoveries and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the strength of those properties. However, it does not directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives the player a chance to acquire better equipment in earlier waves and is therefore more valuable in early game runs as opposed to later ones, since most players prefer higher weapon scaling and defenses over damage gains.
In addition to influencing item discovery, Luck also increases the probability of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This is not to confuse with the Blacksmith’s overall chances of upgrading, which increase with each level of the item. These can also be increased by using anti-materials, such as the Scroll of Strength and a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, shields, and armor can be created or spawned by using the Luck property, which has an initial value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, spined leather, or oak boards (depending on the material of the item) to give +40 Luck or to increase the existing Luck of an item up to 140.
Additionally some items, such as the Hollow weapon that is infused with hollow can be outfitted to increase the damage dealt by any damage-dealing skill by 5%. These items are available in the shops or made using the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are costly and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chances of success for an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it fails.
The success rate of an upgrade is shown in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of completing the upgrade successfully and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. The chance of success can only be increased so much, and the chance that an upgrade will fail can't exceed 100%.
The Luck of an item can also influence the success of an upgrade. All items have a base success rate of 25% and every item that has Luck increases that chance by five percent.
It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects can be obscured by them. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
